I love our weekly tradition of finding a new place to hike and explore! When my husband has a day off work we will pick a park, path, or trail and just take off for a couple of hours with our 2 kids. Our 3 year old (Henry) is able to walk and hike on his own now which makes it even more fun. It has become our time to talk and learn about nature and one of my favorite activities!
My favorite memory of our family happened on our summer vacation this year. We talked it up our toddler, loaded all the things, and drove 12 hours to the beach with two little kids. We enjoyed 2 sunny days followed by 5 days of absolute downpours! At first we were a little grumpy and frustrated by the weather but then we decided to make the most of it. Every time we saw a break in the clouds we would run down to the beach, only to get caught in another storm. We jumped in puddles, ran through the rain, and laughed at how silly we looked soaking wet. Things definitely didn't go as we had planned, but we were together and that's all the mattered. We made some of the best memories that week!
Be silly, be honest, be kind.
You've got this! Stop reading about all the things your could be doing better and just be present. All your child really needs is you!
I knew I would love my kids but I was surprised by just how much that love would impact me. I view everything completely different now that I am a parent. I look at others and view them as being that immensely loved by someone, I think of myself as being that loved by my parents and I am kept awake at night wondering how I can make sure my children know and feel that kind of love.
My funniest parenting story is only funny because it happened to my husband 😉 I was recovering from giving birth and watching my husband change our newborn when I witnessed projectile poop exploding all over him. I still laugh just thinking about it!
