What is your favorite family tradition?
As a family, prior even to the birth of my children, my husband and I would sit outside under the shade of a tree, or inside snuggled in a comfy armchair, and read a book while listening to Bach. Now that we have children, we have continued this tradition. As a family we make it a point to read together every day, to bond, connect and share in the wonders of books.
Tell us about your favorite family story.
There are so many favorites to choose from; however, one memory that is significantly etched in my heart was the birth of our son. Our daughter, Emma, was three when our son was born earth side. Like any three year old she was anxious, uncertain, and yet excited to become a sister.
When she first met him, the world seemed still. My husband and I held our breathes, our uncertainty, fears, and emotions palpable. We couldn't gauge her emotions and she held his tiny hand and examined his long fingers, stared in bewilderment as he cried in search of my breast.
At the moment that he latched, she looked at me with the most expressive eyes and said, "mommy I am proud of you and I am proud of my baby brother." The acceptance and love in that moment is my life force! It has bonded us, brought us closer, and made our love stronger.
What is your family's motto?
Love always, live freely, and have an open heart and mind.

What's your number one tip for new parents?
Enjoy every second because time never lasts as we would wish.
What has been the most surprising thing you've learned as a parent?
For an individual who has always lived life by a schedule, I have learned to, as my husband calls it, "go with the flow." Life isn't always a collection of assigned time slots. I have realized that the most beautiful memories and teachable moments have been unscheduled. Go figure!
Tell us about your funniest parenting story (we all have them!)
That would have to be my son's newborn photography photo session when he urinated on all of us, including my daughter, who then proceeded to have a meltdown-all of which was caught on camera.
