Between our busy work schedules, a teen in high school, swim practice, a newborn, etc., having dinner together is a rarity. Monday nights we make it our business to eat together whether it's home cooked or take out. We pick a movie, hang out and relax as a family unit.
My favorite family story was when we went on our first family trip abroad. We visited Cuba and learned so much about the culture and people. With limited access to cellphone use, it was such a great experience having full conversations with one another, laughing, and exploring the sights without being engulfed in our phones.
Our last names may not match, but our hearts certainly do.
It may be easier said than done but remember to take care of yourself emotionally, physically and spiritually. And when help is being offered, take it! Having a new addition to the family is just that, an addition...everything will become a bit more hectic, more time consuming, not go as planned, and that's ok! Take time to breathe and relax when you can.
You know more than you think. Trust your instincts.
Whether you're a new parent or a veteran parent (what I thought I was), if a boy isn't covered up fast enough while getting a diaper change, you're in for a treat, or two.
