My favorite family tradition is a scavenger hunt or "Goose chase" that we do on Christmas that leads us to our big or most wanted gift. My dad has done it every year ever since I can remember and it's my favorite thing about Christmas. We will all open our gifts as normal and then there will be a note in the Christmas tree to start to "chase".
The notes are in riddle form sending us anywhere from inside to outside of the house leading us closer and closer to our gifts. It is such a fun and exciting experience and it gives us memories that I'll cherish forever.
We're a pretty easy going, simple family and we just enjoy the slow days where we get up, fix breakfast together and just hang around the house. We stay in our comfy clothes and just hangout together and play and laugh! Slow days are my favorite.
"It's just a bad day, not a bad life"
My number one tip for new parents is to take every day as a new day. These are all seasons of your life and it won't be like that forever.
The most surprising things I've learned as a parent it that you aren't done growing as a person yourself. You have this idea of what kind of parent you will be or you want to be and you learn that your kids will teach you so much about life that you didn't know you needed to learn.
So my son is starting to pick up on scents and letting us know if things smells good or stinky. In his words "mhmmm mell good" or "shew-wee stinky". So my husband had been letting them rip (yes, farting) and my son heard said fart and giggled and then proceeded to walk over to him. He sat on his lap and then he quickly smelt the aroma that was around him and said "sheww-wee stinky" and then gagged and got up and walked away...NO LIE. My husband and I busted out laughing.
